Veterans can qualify to receive 10-20 hours of in home non-medical aide care per week – via the Veteran Administration Community Care Program.
This VA program provides aide care services to Veterans of all ages who need non-medical care/assistance to help them with activities of daily living (bathing, grooming, transportation, meal preparation, etc.) in order to stay independent at home or chosen place of residence: Homemaker Program (va.gov)
The program allows a non-spouse family member (or friend) to be hired by a VA approved home care agency and get paid to provide the in home aide care. However, most VA approved home care agencies will not hire “untrained” individuals as they deem them a workers compensation and HR risk. Alternatively, Care Planning Institute always puts the client’s needs first and will spend the time and resources to appropriately train/onboard a Veteran’s family member or friend – allowing the Veteran to receive care from someone reliable who they already know and trust.
