Veterans can receive 20 hours of home care aide assistance per week – via the Veterans Administration Community Care Program.
This VA program provides aide care services to Veterans of all ages who need assistance to help them with activities of daily living (bathing, grooming, transportation, meal preparation, etc.) in order to stay independent at home or chosen place of residence (ALF/ILF): Homemaker Program (va.gov)
The program allows a non-spouse family member (or friend) to be hired by a VA approved home care agency and get paid to provide the in home aide care. However, most VA approved home care agencies will not hire “untrained” individuals as they deem them a workers compensation and HR risk. Alternatively, Care Planning Institute has a unique Family Provider Program and will spend the time and resources to appropriately train and hire a Veteran’s family member (or friend) – allowing the Veteran to receive care from someone reliable that they already know and trust.
